The Indian Premier League has seen high-scoring matches where teams have crossed the 250-run mark in just 20 overs. In recent years, fearless power hitting, better pitches, and fearless aggressive batting have helped teams post some big totals in the history of IPL.

1. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 287/3
SRH scored 287/3 against RCB on 15th April 2024 in Bengaluru. It is the highest ever total in the history of IPL. In this match, Travis Head scored a brilliant century, while Heinrich Klassen finished strongly to take the team to a record score.
2. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 286/6
The second-highest total in IPL history was made by SRH only. It was against RR in Hyderabad on 23 March 2025. Ishan Kishan scored a century while playing the first match for SRH, while Travis Head also played a critical inning.
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 278/3
The third on the list is still SRH, as they scored 278/3 against KKR in 2025. In this match, Klassen played a brilliant knock and helped SRH to achieve 278 on the board.
4. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 277/3
The fourth number on the list is SRH, with a massive total of 277/3 against the Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad in 2024. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave the team an explosive start in the powerplay. Later in the death overs, Klassen added quick runs and pushed the total to 277.

5. Kolkata Knight Riders – 272/7
The next on the list is KKR. They scored 272/2 against the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024 at Visakhapatnam. In this match, Sunil Narine properly used the powerplay and scored a quick 85 runs innings, while Andre Russell finished strongly in the death overs and helped KKR reach 272.
6. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 266/7
SRH scored 266/7 against DC in the opponents’ home ground, Delhi, during IPL 2024. The team started aggressively in the power play and attacked the bowlers throughout the game, which helped them reach 266.
7. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 263/5
RCB has scored a total of 263/5 against Pune Warriors India in 2013, a record that stayed the highest IPL total for various years. In this match, Chris Gayle scored an individual 175 runs not out, which is still the highest individual score in IPL history.
8. Punjab Kings – 262/2
Punjab Kings scored 262/2 against KKR in 2024 at Eden Gardens while chasing a huge target. This match also produced the highest successful run chase in IPL history, showcasing the league’s explosive batting era.
9. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 262/7
In the same historic match where SRH scored 287, RCB responded with 262/7 while chasing the huge target. Although they fell short, the match became one of the highest-scoring games ever played in IPL history.
10. Kolkata Knight Riders – 261/6
KKR scored 261/6 against the Punjab Kings in IPL 2024 at Eden Gardens. In this match, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell powered the innings with explosive hitting, but the Punjab Kings later chased the total in a record-breaking chase.
