Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle is no more, her son Anand Bhosle confirmed on Sunday 12 April 2026 afternoon. She was 92 years old and had been struggling with health complications for recent days. She was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Saturday after she experienced respiratory issues.
Her son said, “My mother passed away today. People can pay their last respects to her at 11 am tomorrow at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where she lived. Her last rites will be performed at 4 pm tomorrow at Shivaji Park.”

Also, her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, confirmed on social media on Saturday evening that the veteran singer was undergoing treatment for extreme exhaustion and chest infection. As per Hindustan Times, her family said that Asha Bhosle’s last rites will be conducted at 4 PM on Monday evening. Also, various top names in the film industry and the state and central government are expected to attend.

What Asha Bhosle Left Behind?
Asha Bhosle left a legacy that extends far beyond her iconic voice and over 13,000 songs. Along with her music career, she built a global brand. She had around 14 restaurants across 5 countries, turning her personal love for cooking into international success. The list includes UAE: Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the Gulf region: Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar and the United Kingdom: Manchester and Birmingham.

Shahrukh wrote, “It’s truly sad to learn about Asha Tai’s passing. Her voice has been one of the pillars of Indian cinema and will continue to resonate worldwide for centuries to come. A talent that will outlive many, she always showered me with blessings and love, and I will miss her. Rest in Peace, Asha Tai, love you.”

Hema Malini tweeted, “Asha Tai no more! I just can’t believe how someone so full of life, she who lent so much vivacity and character to her songs has left us grieving. It is especially hard for me, as I have an emotional connection with Asha ji – she has made many of my songs so popular with her unique voice and style. I had a very special relationship with both Lata ji and Asha ji, who have contributed in no small measure to my rise in the film industry.
It is a huge loss for Maharashtra and for the whole of India that can never be compensated or replaced ever!”

Akshay Kumar also tweeted and said, “No words can convey the loss I feel at Asha Bhosle ji’s demise. Her melodious voice will remain immortal forever. Om Shanti .”
In a post on his X account, Hrithik Roshan wrote, “Today, India lost a gem.

Asha ji was not only a legend whom I had the good fortune of interacting with, but she was also a constant quiet presence in my life, always looking after my best interest, a reassuring and grounding force and the giver of the warmest hugs.
I will miss you deeply, Asha ji. Thank you for the priceless memories and your timeless songs. You are and will always be the Queen of Indian playback singing.
My heartfelt condolences to the Bhosle family. Rest in peace, Asha ji.”

Indian Premier League Teams Pay Tribute to Asha Bhosle
Ahead of the Match between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the players and the spectators paid tribute to Asha by observing a minute’s silence in her honour. Both teams are wearing black armbands as a mark of respect.
