Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone on March 1, 2026, with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to strongly condemn the latest attacks on UAE territory carried out by Iranian forces amid escalating Middle East tensions.

Reports say that Iran carried out missile and drone strikes in the Gulf region after a severe military strike by the US and Israel. In this conflict, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed, which led to strong retaliation from Iran.

As part of this relation, drones and missiles were launched in the Gulf countries, including the UAE. Cities such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai were reportedly targeted. Some civilians were killed and injured, and infrastructure was damaged.

During the phone call, PM Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries. He told MBZ that he stands with the UAE during this tough period. He also thanked the UAE leadership for assuring the safety of Indian citizens living there.

Moreover, PM Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu,  asking all sides to reduce tension. India called for peace, dialogue, and stability in the region. In addition, India’s response shows its strong friendship with the UAE and its balanced diplomatic approach, focusing on peace, the safety of civilians, and regional stability.
