The India vs Pakistan rivalry is one of the biggest highlights of the T20 World Cup tournament. With years of competition and power-packed performances from both teams, cricket lovers and even brands actively look out for the matches. However, the PCB has set three conditions to play against India on February 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Here’s everything you need to know.

PCB Puts 3 Demands for India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup to Happen

After the PCB’s boycott threat just days before the world-level tournament, ICC officials met with PCB President Mohsin Naqvi to resolve the issue on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Notably, the BCB President Aminul Islam also attended this five-hour-long meeting, but no verdict came out. However, it’s reported that the PCB has laid down three specific conditions for the T20 World Cup to happen.

The Three Conditions

Sources like the TOI, Hindustan Times, and others reported that the PCB has put three conditions in front of ICC delegates to play against India on February 15, including the demand for financial compensation for Bangladesh’s removal from the T20 World Cup due to the demand for a change in their match venues from India to Sri-Lanka.

1. Financial Compensation for Bangladesh

The presence of the BCB President, Aminul Islam, during the meeting already hinted at the collaborations between the countries. Now, reportedly, Pakistan is demanding a significant financial package for the Bangladesh Cricket Board due to their replacement by Scotland.

2. Guaranteed Participation Fees

Not only that, but the PCB is also asking for ICC to provide Bangladesh with a full tournament participation fee and share of the event’s revenue despite the ‘non-participation.’

3. Future Hosting Rights

Pakistan is also seeking future hosting rights for future ICC events like the 2028 U-19 World Cup or other senior tournaments for either itself or Bangladesh, calling it compensation for the current diplomatic and logistical friction.

Some reports also suggest that the PCB is expecting the resumption of bilateral ties with India. Specific demands like assurance of handshake protocol between the teams, which India refused during the Asia Cup, 2025, post Pahalgam attack.

Why is Pakistan Boycotting Playing Against India in the T20 World Cup?

Pakistan’s boycott is linked to Scotland replacing Bangladesh in the tournament. It all began when the BCCI reportedly directed KKR to release Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL due to rising tensions between the two countries.

As a result, BCB refused to play in India, and Pakistan showed support, and the PCB’s boycott is also linked to that. PCB officials even wrote to the ICC invoking a “Force Majeure” clause.

They argued that government intervention prevents them from playing.

ICC’s Response to Pakistan’s Boycott

The ICC has rejected the Force Majeure, taking a firm stance against the selective participation, as Pakistan refuses to play against India only, not the entire tournament.

They argue that the PCB’s legal argument is weak and that political preference does not meet the threshold for a force majeure event. Also, the ICC warned the PCB that their boycott would cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

As a result, Pakistan itself would end up facing massive fines, loss of ICC revenue, and even suspension.

Will the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup Happen

Despite the ICC’s meeting with the PCB President Mohsin Naqvi to resolve the issue, no verdict has been made at press time. So, it is still unclear whether the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup will happen, since Pakistan has put three conditions.

On the other side, the Indian team is moving forward as planned. Captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed the squad will travel to Colombo regardless of Pakistan’s stance.
