IPL and PSL Go Head-to-Head in 2026

It is already known that the Indian Premier League is comparatively bigger than the Pakistan Super League on many parameters. However, it is significant that the hype, viewership, and craze among the fans are high in both. Compared to the previous thoughts, the PSL is like a younger cousin to IPL; it has shown great growth in the last few years, which is why there are often comparisons between the two.

Interestingly, for the second consecutive year, the calendars for the IPL and PSL have clashed. The Indian Premier League (19th edition) started on March 28, whereas the Pakistan Super League (11th edition) started on March 26. The matches are still in process, providing a great source of thrill, adrenaline rush, and entertainment for cricket fans.

As already mentioned, the 2026 season of the PSL is seeing an increased viewership due to its expansion from 6 to 8 franchises. According to the News24 reports, the league has added Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz, which pumped the tournament’s media rights value by a 149%.

For the new 2026–2029 period, a new deal of $93 million (approx. PKR 26.11 billion) for media rights has been made with Walee, reflecting massive confidence from advertisers.
