India Advises Its Citizens to Exit Iran by Any Means

On Monday, February 23, 2026, India released a fresh advisory for its citizens present in Iran to exit the country by any available means of transportation. The advisory comes amid the rising tension in the Middle East and the increasing odds of a US strike

The Hindustan Times reports that the Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued the advisory “in view of the evolving situation in Iran.” More importantly, it is in continuation of the similar advisory issued earlier on January 5 and again on January 14, 2026.

“In continuation of the advisory issued by the Government of India on 5 January 2026, and in view of the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals who are currently in Iran (students, pilgrims, business persons, and tourists) are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights.”

“The 14 January 2026 Advisory is hereby reiterated that all Indian citizens and PIOS should exercise due caution, avoid areas of protests or demonstrations, stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Iran, and monitor local media for any developments.”

Student-led Protests Erupt, US-Iran War Threat Looms

India’s exit advice amid the fresh anti-government student-led protest erupting in Iran. Reportedly, university students are protesting in Tehran and other cities for those people who were killed in their January nationwide protests

Sources have revealed that student demonstrations are happening in multiple universities. Some even lead to clashes between the government supporters and the students.

Meanwhile, Tehran and Washington remain engaged in talks to strike a nuclear deal. U.S. officials previously stated that the discussions aren’t progressing that well, soon after which, Donald Trump began a military buildup near Iran. On the other hand, Iran is also preparing for any escalation.

The two nations will continue their discussion in Geneva later this week on Thursday, February 26.
