Google Pixel 10a vs Pixel 9a design comparison showing both smartphones side by side

Smartphone companies are perfectly aligning with the users’ demand these days, especially in the budget-friendly range, including Google, which has recently launched the Pixel 10a. With a new design, satellite connectivity, 30W Fast Charging, and more, it is on users’ radar. However, there’s also an uncanny resemblance to Pixel 9a, which makes them question which one they should buy or whether to upgrade if they already have 9a. Let’s discuss.

Google Launched Pixel 10a In India: Price and Availability

Google launched the most affordable phone of the Pixel 10 lineup, the Pixel 10a, on February 18, 2026, globally and in India. Its base variant was launched at the price of ₹49,999, but the open sale has not started yet. However, the pre-book option has been available ever since the launch.

From March 6, 2026, the Google Pixel 10a will go on an open sale via various e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Google. Although its price is what’s attracting the users to this phone, the features are also actively discussed.

Key Features of Google Pixel 10a

Standard Camera Setup

The Pixel 10a has a 48-megapixel rear camera along with a 13MP ultra-wide camera. Experts note that this Google phone is way cheaper than other flagship phones with a similar setup. However, its lack of a telephoto camera does make it fall short of its competitors.

In the front, it lacks the camera island, which makes it look quite plain in front of top models. It is a completely flat-backed smartphone, even its display is flat with tight chamfering at the edges, which gives it the feel of a slab with a rounded camera.

Notably, the same camera setup is in the Pixel 9a. However, 10a leads with its auto “Best Take,” in which the phone itself will take multiple shots and blend them together to bring out the best. Another unique feature is the “Camera Coach”, which helps the user take better pictures with the help of the Gemini AI assistant.

Design and Display

It features an OLED panel (3,000 nits of brightness) to keep the screen brighter in the outside setting. Additionally, its display supports an adaptive refresh rate up to 120 Hz, building a smoother experience for the users.

A major upgrade is in the glass, as the Pixel 10a brought Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is a significant jump from the Gorilla Glass 3 used in previous Pixel A-series models.

Hardware and Battery

It now supports satellite communication thanks to the new Exynos 5400. This is happening for the first time in an A-series.

Talking of battery, Pixel 10a features the 5,100 mAh, wired charging, up from 25W to 30W, and the wireless charging, which is also up from 7.5W to 10W. Also, it utilizes the Tensor G4 chip, the same as the Pixel 9a.

Sustainable Design

Google claims that the 10a’s battery can last about 1,000 full charge cycles with at least 80% of its original capacity. More importantly, it is repairable, and its replacements are easily available on iFixit.

It is sustainable as it is made up of 36% recycled material, and the company published an environmental impact report. Also, it will recycle devices for free, attracting users who support sustainability.

Google Pixel 10a vs Pixel 9a: Key Similarities and Differences

Similarities

There are multiple similarities between the Pixel 10a and the Pixel 9a, including the camera, battery, and processor. Both the Pixel phones use the same 48MP + 13MP rear sensor setup. Their batteries are also 5100 mAh cells, and they use the Tensor G4 chip.

Lastly, both are up for the benefit of Google’s 7-year software update promise.

Differences

Although the similarities are significant, there are also quite a few differences between the two. Starting with the visibility, the Pixel 10a is 11% brighter than the other, as it reaches 3000 nits. It makes it better for usage in direct sunlight.

The 10a is also superior in build quality as it features the Gorilla Glass 7i, which is more scratch and drop-resistant compared to the 9a’s Gorilla Glass 3. Google has also bumped the charging speed in the Pixel 10a, and the design is flat. It is also reported that it has 10% thinner bezels compared to the 9a.

Last but not least, there is the price difference between the Pixel 10a and 9a. The former is ₹10,000 more expensive than the latter.

Which One is a Better Deal?

Experts acknowledge that the Google Pixel 10a is a great mid-range phone, especially with these features and at this price. It has great battery life, dual camera on back, AI features including Gemini, Circle, and more, but there are certain cuts that make it lack in some areas.

One highlighted issue is its plastic back, its lack of Qi2 magnetic attachment support, and its missing out on advanced AI features, which are easily available in the Pixel 10 lineup. As a result, they believe the Pixel 9a is a better deal, since it’s cheaper, carries the same chip, camera, software, and many other specifications.
