On Thursday, February 26, 2026, PM Narendra Modi became the most followed politician in the world. With a staggering 100M mark, his Instagram is showcasing his influence and popularity worldwide.
Interestingly, this Meta-owned social media platform is said to be a space for entertainment; Modi’s following represents his impact on the youth. Notably, this milestone is significant; his X following has already crossed the 100M mark, currently, at 106.2M Followers.
Not only is Modi the most followed leader on Instagram, but he has surpassed U.S. President Donald Trump by a huge margin.
Global Leaders’ Ranking on Instagram Followers
In the global leaders’ ranking, Narendra Modi is first in terms of Instagram followers. Second is the U.S. President Donald Trump, with 43.2 million followers, followed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto with 15 million followers, Brazilian President Lula with 14.4 million followers, Turkish President Erdogan with 11.6 million followers, and Argentine President Javier Milei with 6.4 million followers.
Reports suggest that Modi’s individual follower count is higher than the sum of the followers of the next five leaders.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi ranked second with an approval rating of 63%. Argentina’s Javier Milei is third with 60%, while U.S. President Trump stands in 11th position with a 43% approval rating.
Morning Consult’s 2025 data also shows similar results, confirming PM Narendra Modi is the most popular world leader.
