Padma Awards 2026: Complete List of Winners, Categories, and Key Highlights

On the eve of the 77th Republic Day, the Padma Awards for 2026 have been officially announced. The veteran actor Dharmendra Singh Deol, cricketer Rohit Sharma, chief minister of Jharkhand Shibu Soren, and many others have been awarded. Here’s the complete list and other highlights. 

2026 Padma Award Ceremony

President Droupadi Murmu approved 131 Padma awards across various categories for their exceptional accomplishments. The 2026  list includes achievers from various disciplines like art, social work, education, sports, civil service, science, engineering, and more.

Out of the 131 awardees, 19 are women, and 6 are from the categories of foreigners (NRI, PIO, and CIO). Also, 16 awards will be conferred posthumously (after a person’s death) and two duo cases (where the award is counted as one).

Hema Malini Reacts to Dharmendra’s Padma Vibhushan 

After the Padma Awards 2026 announcement, the second wife of Dharmendra, veteran actor Hema Malini, reacted to her husband being recognized and honored for the Padma Vibhushan. 

In an Instagram post, she posted that “So proud that the government has recognised Dharam ji’s immense contribution to the film industry by bestowing on him the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award.”

The legendary actor Dharmendra passed away in November 2025. 

Reaction of Padma Award Receivers

The Padma Bhushan recipient Mammootty said, “Santosham, athi santhosham (I am happy, extremely happy). There is nothing bigger than the honour of the country.” 

Alka Yagnik said, “I want to thank the government for giving me this prestigious honour. And of course I really, really want to thank all my listeners for their unconditional love.”

 The Padma Shree recipient, Madhavan, said, “I accept the award with profound gratitude and humility. This honour, bestowed upon me, is beyond my wildest dreams, and I receive it on behalf of my entire family, whose constant support and faith have been my greatest strength.”

Others also joined in this celebratory movement, sharing congratulations and other heartfelt wishes on social media.
