Singh added that he does this so as to keep things fresh, and this step was taken so that he can explore different genres, keep things fresh, and stay creatively alive.

“One of the reasons was simple: I get bored pretty quickly. That’s why I keep changing arrangements of the same songs and perform them on stage. So here is the thing, I got bored, I need to do some other music to live.”
To Return to Roots
In his posts, Singh expresses his desire to go back to Indian Classical music, which he has been part of since his childhood. He was born and brought up in a household with classical music as a priority.
“I am going to go back to Indian classical music. I wanna go back to making music. I wanna start again.”
Stepping Down for New Talent to Emerge
While his legacy and fan following are nowhere to compete, he showed his humility with his step down news from the playback. In his private X account post, he mentioned that he is eager to hear some new voices in Bollywood.
Singh is awaiting new talent to emerge and even inspire him in his journey.
“Another reason is I am excited to hear some singers come up and give me real motivation.”

Arijit is not retiring, and he still has playback commitments to complete. His break is from accepting new projects as a playback vocalist from this year on, but he will still complete the assignments he has already taken on.
So the fans will get to witness more of his Bollywood songs this year despite him stepping down.
“I still have to finish some pending commitments, will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear that I won’t stop making music.”
