Lalit Modi and Sanjiv Goenka controversy as Rishabh Pant reacts

Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi has  shown his reaction on LSG’s owner Sanjiv Goenka after the words exchanged between the captain Rishabh Pant and Sanjiv Goenka after LSG lost against Delhi Capitals in Lucknow on Wednesday (April 1).

Lalit Kumar Modi Statement on Sanjiv Goenka

He posted on X and said, “I told you this guy @DrSanjivGoenka, owner of @LucknowIPL, is a complete loser and joker of the highest order. I am seriously embarrassed by his behaviour. I created the @IPL for fans and players alike, not for this to happen every time, every year. If I were still chairman and commissioner, I would have banned him immediately and made him forfeit his ownership of the team forever. He is a complete pompous clown. There is a clause in the franchise agreement for this exact issue. #BCCI implements it – keep integrity above all. Sucking up to the powers that be is not the way to allow him to get away. Fans and players alike will remember.”

In response to the post, ex-England captain Michael Vaughan replied, ” 1 game into the tournament.. No need for this.”

However, LSG tried to clear the image by posting a video of Rishabh Pant having a light-hearted chat with Sanjiv Goenka and a few other members of LSG.

LSG posted on X, “Not everything you see is the true story, here’s the unfiltered post-match vibes, when the camera doesn’t cut.”

Sanjiv Goenka’s Past Controversy

He is well known for his tense exchanges with his players. In 2024, after the loss against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sanjiv Goenka was seen in a heated exchange with captain KL Rahul.

In that season, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t make it to the playoffs and received only 14 points and finished seventh on the points table.

Later, Sanjiv Goenka also talked about KL Rahul on the TRS Podcast and said, KL Rahul has always been family for me and he will remain that way. He captained Lucknow for three years and has shown great results during his tenure. I genuinely wish for his good, no matter what happens.”
