Ajinkya Rahane Hits Back at Critics After SRH Defeat

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has come under heavy criticism after his slow knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens on Thursday night. He has scored only 8 runs in 10 balls. As per the revsportz, Rahane said post-match that he has maintained one of the best strike rates in IPL since 2023. As per the data, he holds a strike rate of 147.78, which ranks him 65th among batters during this period.

Rahane’s reaction to the question

He said, “My strike…. I think I have one of the best strike rates so far. People who are talking about me are probably not watching the game, or they have some agendas.”

He further added, “They don’t like me playing, they don’t like to watch me play. The amount of success I’ve had, I guess they are jealous of me.”

Rahane played a brilliant knock in the first match and scored 67 runs off 40 balls on March 29. As per The Times of India, last year, he had scored 390 runs in matches and was the highest run scorer for KKR.

He said, “Just one innings where you don’t get that rhythm, that flow. My intent was there. People either don’t understand the game or want me to play a different way. I know what I am doing. I back myself rather than thinking about whoever is talking.”

Rahane Appreciated His Bowlers

He said, “It looks like they would get 250-260. I thought the bowlers came back really, bowled smartly. I don’t think there was any issue with the pitch.”

He also said, “The first six over was crucial for us. We lost the extra wicket of Cameron Green. When you’re chasing the target, it’s bound to happen. What we needed today was a partnership. That didn’t happen. SRH executed their plan really well.”

With two defeats to begin their campaign, the highlight is on Rahane, and KKR is only set to intensify, but the captain’s intentions are clear that he is not backing down anytime soon.
