Matthew Hayden, the former Australian opener, has been appointed as the batting coach of the Gujarat Titans. He was one of the most dominant opening batters of his era. Now, he will join the GT support staff that includes Ashish Nehra, Parthiv Patel, and Vikram Solanki. In addition, he has also served as a key mentor for the Pakistan national cricket team during the 2021 and 2022 ICC T20 World Cups.

After his appointment as the batting coach, he said, “Good batting applies pressure. Great batting owns the game; that’s the standard we want to set at Gujarat Titans.”
Moreover, Solanki, the director of cricket for the Gujarat Titans, said the appointment of Hayden would assist GT in shaping their batting identity. “His experience at the highest level, coupled with his ability to mentor emerging talent, will be instrumental in shaping our batting identity for the seasons ahead.”
Matthew Hayden has also played 32 matches for Chennai Super Kings and won the title in 2010, and he was the highest run scorer in 2009. In addition, he is also a two-time ODI World Cup winner and a member of the ICC Hall of Fame.

IPL 2026 will start on March 28, although the match schedules are not yet out. Moreover, GT is captained by Shubhman Gill and finished third in 2025. They won their first title in their inaugural season in 2022 and finished runner-up in 2023.
