Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur, a small town in Samastipur district of Bihar. He is known for his very simple life, like many young cricketers in India. Also, he began playing cricket in his local area with basic facilities. From a very young age, he showed a strong interest in cricket. Vaibhav used to practice for hours and hours. His passion was so strong that he began his training professionally when he was four.
He grew up in a small town and didn’t have access to top-level facilities. His discipline and dedication towards the game helped him overcome these issues with ease. Family Support and Coaching Journey

Vaibhav’s family played a crucial role in his success. His father is Sanjiv Sooryavanshi, who is himself an aspiring cricketer. He couldn’t achieve his dream, but made sure that his son got every chance to succeed. Also, his father supported him from the beginning and recognized his talent early.
Later, his father enrolled Vaibhav in GenNex Cricket Academy in Patna under coach Manish Ojha. According to the reports, Vaibhav and his father used to travel around 100 kilometers from Samastipur to Patna on alternate days for training. The decision to enroll him in the academy for his bright future has completely changed Vaibhav’s career.
Apart from his father, his mother, Aarti Sooryavanshi, also played a crucial role in his life. She supported him emotionally and assured him that he would stay focused on his cricket journey. He was also trained under Zubin Bharucha (RR Coach/ Mentor), who supported his unconventional high backlift and nurtured his ability to score against pace bowlers.

Youth Career of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav has started coming to the headlines at a very young age in youth cricket. At just 12 years old, he played in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar’s Under 19 team, which in itself is a big achievement. In 2023, he scored 177 runs in six innings for India B under-19. Because of his performance, he grabbed attention from selectors and cricket experts.
In September 2024, he made his debut for India Under-19 against Australia Under-19. In his first match, he scored a cracking century in just 58 balls. It was the fastest century by an Indian in Under-19 Test cricket. He scored 104 runs and got run out. Also, during the Under-19 ACC Asia Cup, his performance was consistent, and he scored 76 runs in just 46 balls, followed by 67 runs against Sri Lanka in the semi-finals.
In 2025, he played for India A and scored 144 runs in just 42 balls against the UAE. His century came in just 32 balls. He was hitting bowlers very easily, which shows his ability to score easily. One of his biggest achievements was in the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup final. He scored 175 runs in just 80 balls against England. His innings included 15 fours and 15 sixes. He had a record-breaking innings and proved that he is a future star. All these innings simply show that Vaibhav is not just a single-format player; he can bat across all formats.

Domestic Career of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s domestic career is really impressive. He made his first-class debut at the age of 12 years and 284 days against Mumbai in January 2024. With this, he became the youngest player to play in the Ranji Trophy after the legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh. In November 2024, he made his T20 debut at the age of just 13 years and 241 days in the SMAT (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy). He also became the youngest player to debut in T20 cricket.
Later the same year, in December, he made his List A debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the age of 13 years and 269 days and also became the youngest Indian to play in this format. In 2025, he scored a century in just 36 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He also scored 190 runs off just 84 balls in that match and broke the record of MR. 360 AB de Villiers for the fastest 150 in List A cricket.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi IPL Success
Vaibhav’s IPL journey started in November 2024 when he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals at the age of just 13 for ₹1.1 crore. This deal made him the youngest player to get an IPL contract. In his debut against the Gujarat Titans, he scored a six on the very first ball and scored 34 runs in just 20 balls.
On 28 April, 2025, he created history and became the youngest player to score a century in IPL. In his innings, he scored 101 runs off 38 balls. His innings included 11 big sixes. His century became the second fastest player in just 35 balls after Chris Gayle. He has also equalled the record of Murali Vijay for most sixes by an Indian in an IPL innings.

In the 2026 IPL, he is performing brilliantly. Till now, he is the Orange cap holder; he has 200 runs in 4 matches with two cracking half-centuries. He scored 2 fifties in just 15 balls. This year, he is also all set to perform and grab the BCCI selectors’ attention for the International T20I squad.
Age Disputes of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Despite his success, Vaibhav has faced various controversies regarding his age. Some people have questioned whether his official date of birth is correct. In a 2023 interview, Vaibhav mentioned that he would turn 14 in September 2023. This created confusion about his age.
However, his father strongly denied these claims and said that all records are correct. He stated that Vaibhav has undergone bone density tests conducted by the BCCI. All these tests are used to verify a player’s age and as per his father, Vaibhav has passed all of them successfully.
