Delhi Capitals announces their new Fielding Coach for IPL 2026

Former Ireland all-rounder John Mooney has been appointed as a fielding coach of the Delhi Capitals for the IPL 2026.
He is also the first person from Ireland to be part of an IPL team’s coaching staff. He replaces Anton Roux, along with Gnaneswara Rao, who served the role last season.
Now John Mooney is also set to join Delhi Capitals’ coaching staff with head coach Hemang Badani, bowling coach Munaf Patel, Ian Bell as assistant coach, and Venugopal Rao as director of cricket.
Mooney has significant international experience, as he served Afghanistan as a fielding coach from 2018 to 2019. In addition, he has also worked with the West Indies in 2019 as a temporary coach.
Mooney was a left-hand batter and right-arm fast bowler and represented Ireland in 27 T20Is between 2006 and 2015. He also represented Ireland in 64 ODIs and played three ODI World Cups (2007, 2011, and 2015) and two T20 World Cups (2009 and 2010).
