Although the official launch is set to happen in Q2 2026, its 3-wheel design and safety features, especially the built-in airbag, have made it much more desirable. The Yamaha Tricity 300 is no ordinary scooter, as it has become the world’s first-ever scooter to come with an in-built airbag system. Until now, only cars were equipped with these safety features, but the Tricity 300 broke the norms, going into production with an airbag system.
Yamaha has developed this system in collaboration with Autoliv, a leading automotive safety supplier. Notably, this technology is new but has not been brought out much in production. Besides, in this segment, the Honda Gold Wing, a motorcycle, is another contender as it comes with the airbag option. However, experts anticipate that there will be a significant price difference.

The launch of a scooter with an airbag has already become worldwide news, but it’s a disappointment for the Indian users, as there’s no official plan to launch the Tricity 300 in India. The makers have developed the three-wheel scooter with an airbag for the European market, anticipated to launch in Q2 2026.
Speaking of its price, Yamaha has not disclosed its official pricing yet. What’s certain is that the brand will launch the Tricity 300 in a “Standard version” and an “Airbag Version,” signaling two price ranges to choose from.
The non-airbag version will have a front central storage compartment for users to store smaller items.
How Will the Airbag System Work?
The built-in airbag on this scooter is fitted in the front, and the brand claims that it wouldn’t compromise any space. Speaking of its functions, it features advanced sensors that instantly detect collisions.
It will work similarly to how the airbags work in a car, where the G-force sensor detects the sudden acceleration, which happens in the case of a front crash. Once a crash is detected in the scooter, the airbag will automatically deploy, preventing the driver from falling forward.

However, there’s a difference between a car airbag and this scooter’s one. The car airbags function in collaboration with the seatbelt, preventing the driver from hitting the dashboard or steering. The Tricity 300 would protect the driver from falling forward.

The 2026 Yamaha Tricity 300 features a new and sporty design, distinguishing it from the others. According to the reports, it features LED lighting, a new front panel, stylish tail lamps, and much more.
At the front, it has a 4.2-inch TFT display and a 2.8-inch LCD screen. Smart functions are an integral part of people’s lives these days, so considering that it has added smartphone connectivity via Garmin navigation and the MyRide app. Reportedly, the rider can view calls, emails, SMS notifications, and music alerts.
At the rear, the tail lamps have been upgraded to a split-line format.
