During this long tournament, teams and players have set new benchmarks. Team India has written history by defeating New Zealand in the finals of the Men’s T20 World Cup and has achieved their third title.

Throughout the tournament, there were various individual and team performances that lifted the stage.

Here are the top records that changed the entire record books:

Defending Champions

India defeated New Zealand and became the first team to get three T20 World Cup titles. Their previous T20 World Cup championships came in 2007 and 2024. In addition, India has also become the first team to defend their title and gain back-to-back trophies.

255/5: Highest total in the t20 World Cup final

The Indian team has scored 255/5 against New Zealand and become the first team to score the highest total in a T20 World Cup final. The previous record of highest score in a final belongs to India only in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados, which was 176/7.

250+ scores

India has also become the first team to achieve back-to-back 250+ scores. They first made it against England in a crucial semi-final match and attained a total of 253/7. In addition, they have scored 256/4 against Zimbabwe, which is the highest in the T20 World Cup 2025. 

During the tournament, India have scored 250 runs three times, once during the super eight clash against Zimbabwe and the other two in the semi-final and finals against England and New Zealand respectively.

383: Sahibzada Farhan 

Sahibzada Farhan has scored the highest runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup by scoring 383 runs. The previous best was 319 by Virat Kohli in 2014. Tim Seifert and Sanju Samson have also surpassed Virat Kohli’s runs by making 326 and 321 runs respectively.

176 Runs Partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman

Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman have scored an opening partnership of 176 runs against Sri Lanka in the Super 8 clash, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in T20I.

92: Highest Powerplay score

Team India has scored 92/0 in the power play, which was the joint-highest power play score in a T20 World Cup match. First, the score was achieved by the West Indies against Afghanistan in the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup.

89: Highest Individual Score by Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson has scored the highest individual score in a T20 World Cup final match against New Zealand on Sunday. He has scored 89 runs. 

499: Total score from both ends during the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final.

During the epic semi-final clash between England and India, both teams scored combined runs of 499 in a single match. India batted first and scored 253/7, while England came to bat, they fell a little short and scored 246/7 while chasing. During the chase, Jecob Bethall scored an explosive century.

18-ball half-century by Abhishek Sharma

During the T20 World Cup 2026 finals, Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century in 18 balls. It was the fastest half-century of this edition and the fastest in a T20 World Cup final match.

24 Sixes: Highest in a single World Cup edition

Sanju Samson hit 24 sixes throughout the tournament, which were the most in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.

33-ball century: Fastest century in men’s T20 World Cup

During the semi-final clash between New Zealand and South Africa, while chasing, Finn Allen scored the fastest T20 World Cup century in history in just 33 balls. The previous best was a 47-ball century of Chris Gayle against England in 2016.

106 total sixes by India at the World Cup 

Team India has become the first team to hit over 100 sixes in a T20 international event.

146 runs average by Brian Bennett.

Brian Bennett has scored 292 runs throughout the tournament. He played six innings and was not out in four; his average is 146. Bennet now holds the highest average at a T20 World Cup.
