Apple’s New MacBook Air and Pro Launch and Availability
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Apple unveiled its updated MacBook Air and Pro. With the updates, the MacBook Air is now powered by Apple’s latest M5 chip, and the MacBook Pro model features the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors. The company claims that these updates will enhance the MacBook in terms of performance and on-device AI capabilities.
The updated MacBooks will be available in physical stores from March 11, 2026. However, the pre-book window has been open since 7:45 PM IST, March 4, 2026.
What Changes in MacBook Air?
With this launch, the MacBook Air now features a base storage of 512 GB, double the previous one. Additionally, it has integrated faster SSD technology along with the capability to extend its storage to 4TB. The update focuses on equipping it for the daily needs of the user, that is, higher storage, multi-functionality, and smooth processing.
The MacBook Air is available in 13 and 15-inch screens, catering to the needs of the users. It comes in sky blue, midnight, starlight, and silver colors.
The company has also worked on connectivity, featuring the Apple N1 chip. Additionally, they have enabled Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for the first time in the model.
Its camera also received an upgrade to the 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View support. The battery remains the same and can function for up to 18 hours on a single charge.
What Changes in MacBook Pro?
The MacBook Pro is available in 14 and 16-inch screens and comes in space black and silver colors. The lineup has introduced Fusion Architecture and a battery that can last up to a staggering 24 hours.
Talking of the performance, it is bringing game-changing features with the all-new M5 Pro and M5 Max. The MacBook Pro (M5 Pro and M5 Max) features a new CPU with the world’s fastest CPU core. Additionally, it incorporates a next-generation GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core.

It also has a unified memory bandwidth, and experts also report a 4xAI performance compared to the previous generation. Notably, the AI performance is up to 8x if compared to the M1 models.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro models now come with 1TB of storage as standard and a 2x faster SSD. It is significantly up from 512GB in many earlier base configurations. The base storage for the M5 Max is 2TB.
MacBook Air and Pro Launch Price in India
Even after updates, the prices of the MacBook Air and Pro have decreased significantly. Interestingly, the launch of these updated MacBooks came just a day after Apple launched the iPhone 17e, its most affordable phone, costing just ₹64,900 for the 256 GB storage (the new base storage).
MacBook Air Price
The 13-inch MacBook Air with 512 GB storage now costs just ₹1,19,900 in India. Students can avail a special discount and buy it at just ₹1,08,900.
Note that the older lineup (MacBook Air M3) with the standard configuration of 8GB RAM and 256 GB costs ₹1,14,900. Moreover, they had to pay ₹1,34,900 for the 8GB RAM, 512 GB configuration, and ₹1,54,900 for the 16GB version.

The 15-inch MacBook Air (M5) sells at the price of ₹1,44,900. The student price for this variant is ₹1,33,900.
