Early Life of Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was born on March 13, 1994, in Hyderabad, Telangana. He grew up in a modest family and also faced various financial problems in his early days. His father, Mirza Mohammed Ghaus, was an auto rickshaw driver and his mother, Shabana Begum, worked as a housewife. Siraj also has an elder brother, Mohammed Ismail, who is an engineer. Siraj was born in a rented house in the first lancer area of Hyderabad. Later, his family moved to a small apartment in Tolichowki.

Siraj used to go to school but often skipped classes just to play cricket, which led to scolding from his mother, though his father always protected him. He completed his studies up to Class 12. He started his career as a batsman, but later his friends motivated him to choose bowling because of his natural and raw pace. His father used to give him a daily pocket money of ₹70, from which ₹40 he used to spend on traveling and the remaining for food. To support his family, he did catering jobs.

In his early days, he used to play in slippers because he couldn’t afford professional cricket shoes. Also, Siraj didn’t bowl with a professional leather ball until he was 19 years old. He never joined a formal cricket academy. His career mainly started when he took 9 wickets in a single match for his uncle’s team at the Charminar Cricket Club, which helped him grab attention and allowed him into the state U-23 side. He made his Ranji Trophy debut in November 2015 for Hyderabad. In the 2016-217 season, he was the highest wicket taker of the team with 41 wickets. Now he is one of the most reliable bowlers for India.
